Samuel Krum was born in Melbourne, Australia and from an early age was drawn to Music and Theatre. Studies in Piano and Percussion led to placement in the Victorian College of the Arts Opera Studio, where he was awarded the Harold Fisher Opera Scholarship. Samuel has performed at the National Gallery of Victoria, BMW Edge Theatre; Federation Square, the Sydney Opera House, Hamer Hall; Crown Casino, and Olympic Park; Melbourne. While in Australia, Samuel worked on the Australian premiere of Ullman¹s 'Der Kaiser von Atlantis' as assistant director to Caroline Stacey, before directing and writing 'Finding Farinelli', a theatre piece exploring the history of the Italian castrati for the Daylesford Swiss Italian Festival. Samuel¹s last work in Australia was as creator/performer in Wasted Underground , a cabaret-opera pairing Schoenberg¹s Pierrot Lunaire with songs by Kurt Weill, Hans Eisler, Black Sabbath, Tears for Fears, The Dresden Dolls, The Tigerlillies, and Rodgers and Hammerstein.
After relocating to Europe, Samuel worked at Vienna¹s Drachengasse Theater as assistant director and writer on 'My Year Without Sex', directed by Beverly Blankenship, since revived on London¹s West End, and toured to the Melbourne Comedy and Adelaide Cabaret Festivals. Samuel worked at Target Live with Guy Chapman as Promotional Director for the Verbier Festival, as well as numerous West End shows including Cabaret, Blood Brothers, Elaine Stritch; At Liberty, Chita Rivera Live at the Shaw, and Golda¹s Balcony. Samuel has given Performance Masterclasses in Melbourne, Dublin and London. In 2008 Samuel was appointed Senior Artist Manager at Robert Gilder & Company, an international artist management agency which services a roster of world-class singers, conductors and directors performing regularly at the world¹s leading opera houses including La Scala; Milan, the Royal Opera House; Covent Garden, New York¹s Metropolitan Opera, La Monnaie, Netherlands Opera and the Paris Opera.
